For the past few years, corporations have recognized that they are facing a leadership crisis. While this is partly due to the gap left by retiring baby boomers, it also has something to do with the North American psyche. The iconic “politeness” North Americans are famous for has its drawbacks; many younger North Americans confuse politeness with meekness, and a lack of assertiveness can equate to a lack of leadership.
